The new School of Education building in Middle Campus, has been awarded four Green Stars by the Green Building Council South Africa (GBCSA) due to its environmentally friendly design that also will provide users with a healthy and comfortable space to study, work and play. Located just below the UCT cricket oval, the building is in a sensitive ecological area with numerous protected trees on the site, and as such was designed to weave through the forested area. The four levels accommodate a 200-seater auditorium, teaching venues of varying sizes, a computer laboratory, a wet laboratory, office space and a cafeteria.
