HPI d-School Afrika

The new HPI d-School Afrika building, funded by the Hasso Plattner Foundation of Germany, is Africa’s first purpose built school of Design Thinking. The 4-storey building is targeting a 6-star Green Star rating from the Green Building Council of South Africa, aiming to be the first 6-star Green Star-rated academic building in Africa. The internal climate control of the HPI d-School Afrika is provided by a thermally activated building system, combined with air quality monitoring, and actuated windows which open and close to vent the building naturally as required.
